WGCT HISTORY “We offer every child the chance to act on stage,” says founding director Gavin Coffing. When he started the Willow Glen Children’s Theatre (WGCT) in 1988, Coffing created a unique program that not only allows participants to act in an original play, but also to participate in the creative process. Over twenty years later, WGCT remains one of Silicon Valley’s most innovative children’s theatres and we continue to cast every child in our productions. Our extraordinary approach to theatre gives children the tools to increase their self-confidence and make friends in a safe and supportive environment. In addition to acting skills, children develop their presentation, speaking, listening, and reading skills. Our staff includes talented and dedicated individuals, all former participants. We make it our mission to ensure that each child is successful from start to finish. In addition, these teen and young adults are excellent role models, both in and out of the theatre.
